Anyone out there expecting a baby around this age? Would love to know if stress is a factor or what your thoughts are on everything! Truly, Buggie's Mom

Posts: 6 08/25/09 22:05:00	It's nice to see another older mom. I think we are few and far between. I will be 39 1/2 when our baby is born. Right now we are 12 weeks. Not exactly what I thought I'd be doing with my life at this time but we are so excited!! I was pregnant 11 years ago with my daughter and boy have things changed. This pregnancy has been a lot more difficult physically- I get tired much easier and many more aches and pains. I definately think it has to do with older age. Also last time if I felt sick my husband would make his own dinner, etc. but now I have 2 kids to care and cook for no matter what I feel like. Poor girls are only eating bland simple meals the last couple of weeks (all I can make without gagging) but at least their eating. I am a bit stressed more because of the risks with maternal age for miscarriage and certain disabilities. My doctor is very reassuring but I will stop worrying when my child is in my arms. We are opting not to have any invasive testing (amnio and such) unless there are any markers or indications of anything wrong.

Posts: 9 08/30/09 00:58:19	Hey Chaffy - thanks so much for the welcome. I had been part of the "Parenthood Group" with my son in 2005. Great group of ladies. Many went on to have a few more babies since then. (I would check up periodically!) mellyb: I can completely understand how you're feeling with this pregnancy. Since my only other child is turning 4 in October - I can remember certain thing with lots of clarity. This pregnancy is much different than my first. I am certainly not as tired, but have suffered quite a few migraines in my 2nd month. I am not sure it is age and hormone levels or what!? The doctor gave me a prescription to ease the nausea (which wasn't bad at all with my boy). Just overall - very different. The cooking issue I understand too. About 6 weeks in - I hated cooked and the smell of virtually everything. I can't tell you how many times we ate cold turkey sandwiches for dinner...and lunch...and well - sometimes breakfast! I have since become much better but for some reason can stand the sight, smell or notion of chicken...ugh!! Well - I hope we can keep in touch and keep each other sane during this short time! Lynn p.s. we have decided to go ahead with the amnio - just for peace of mind...

This will be my 4th child, I have an 18 year old son, 9 year old son & 7 year old daughter. I know you guys have been here for a couple months already & I'm sure your pregnancies are progressing. I would love to hear your updates!! I'm new to this forum & this was the first "discussion" I stumbled across!!! So congrats to you "older moms"! I don't feel so old anymore!
