I would too. If it was the only way I could save my child, I'd do it for sure.

I'm reading My Sister's Keeper right now, very interesting. It's not as simple as just saving one child's life... I'm only part way through and I recommend the book whole heartedly. I really do fear the "perfect" baby that can come from the technology that allows doctors to select the perfect match. I go back to my original point about modern technology and the ethics of a lot of it. Unfortunately, people don't just turn to this technology in times of understanable need ~ we have parents actively selecting whom they bring into this world base on gender, hair colour, potential iq, etc. Really what kind of parent would be concerned with the gender of one child while dealing with another that is gravely ill? |

It's a complex decision to be made. I read My Sister's Keeper as well, and I could really relate to the child who was born to save the 1st one's life. It's an amazingly sad story and I recommend this read to anyone who is ever in the unfortunate position of considering this.... I don't know if I would do it purposely-- if it's GOD'S will, then you don't do invitro and choose a specific match. JMHO. |

I wouldn't. Jodi Picoult has a book called My Sister's Keeper that was told from the perspective of the harvested sister. It's interesting, good for book clubs.

This is a rough one! But, I don't think I could it that way! If it ever came down to it I just don't think I could! We don't use protection anyways but i can't plan a pregnancy no matter the reason. I can see where almost everyone is coming from saying they would to save another child but what are the effects to the baby, what if it isn't a match? Do you keep having kids to get a match? Or do you only try once. What if your someone who only wanted 1 child and they got sick would you have another just for this reason? I have alot of questions about this type of thing I could propbly go on forever but I'm not. Anyone who would like to discuss this further with me and maybe enlighten me a little bit please do so!! Thank you! |

In a heartbeat!!!! We all know when it comes to our kids we would do anything for them. Thats just our instinct. I have 3 kids and never banked cord blood. I have to say I really regret it, because we never know what tomorrow will bring. |
